Tactical Watch
There are watches and there are tactical watches.
To the military, there’s a big difference between 3 seconds and 3.168352 seconds. It could spell the difference between life and death. The split-second difference could mean the death of a comrade, the failure of a mission, the death of millions of civilians back in the home country.
But an ordinary watch won’t be able to tell that difference. As much as the wrist watch was designed to keep time, it has certain limitations, including not being as accurate as its more advanced counterpart. You need a tactical watch.
The tactical watch is the watch of a military man and outdoors man. It is a special watch with advanced features—chronometer, stop watch, backlight—and is extremely resilient. Simply put, it is a type of watch made for the outdoors.
Tactical watches encompass a broad range of different types of watches. For example, computerized multi-function wrist watches are also tactical watches, with features such as GPS, keydrives, digital cameras, altimeters, barometers, tonometers, calculators, etc. All this thanks to the development of cutting edge technology and even smaller computer chips.
The features of a tactical watch aren’t limited to run-of-the-mill measuring devices. Have you ever held a watch designed for the military? These watches have chronometer features that keep time to the smallest degree. Military watches are also resistant to extreme water pressure, heat and very cold weather. That and all of the features of a multi-function wrist watch.
These types of wrist watches, military watches, also fall under tactical watches.
But tactical watches aren’t just known for what they can do. They are also known for their durability.
Tactical watches are as waterproof as a Navy wrist watch, as resilient as a Marine wrist watch, as durable as an outdoors wrist watch, and as tough as titanium. Tactical watches that also function as diving watches have been used by scuba divers, worn by soldiers on missions, and taken by mountaineers on camping trips. No amount of rain and sun is going to weather a good tactical watch—that is, unless you crush it with a sledgehammer.
Even Outer Space is the playground of the tactical watch. Some tactical watches are made specifically for space travel, designed to function in zero gravity and other extreme conditions in space. Yuri Gagarin wore a tactical watch during his historic first flight. The watch was made at the First Moscow Factory.
